SDYC's 132nd Opening Day

NOT ONLY WERE THEY CELEBRATING anniversaries up in SF this past weekend, but Sunday marked the 132nd Opening Day at San Diego Yacht Club. Saturday's festivities included the Opening Day Race, yacht inspections, and a dinner dance hosted by Commodore John Reiter and Lisa Reiter. The celebrations continued on Sunday with the formal opening ceremony featuring military bands and color guards, much pomp and ceremony, and speeches that were thankfully short.

The replica yacht AMERICA, owned by longtime SDYC member and Fleet Chaplain Troy Sears, and the San Diego Maritime Museum's SAN SALVADOR added to the color. SAN SALVADOR is the replica of the first European yacht to visit North America's west coast. Members and guests were able to tour both yachts, adding to the festive and historic day.

Can you name the few North American clubs older than SDYC?
