Assassinated in 1865, he supposedly uttered this in the late 1850s, appropriately enough not long after the original AC race in 1851. However, historians say Jacques Abbadie (FRA) should be credited with a similar statement in French two centuries earlier. Regardless, it comes to mind with today's articles in the NZ Herald and elsewhere saying Artemis went 9-0 against their opponents in the most recent practice racing in BDA, including 4-0 against OTUSA. If Dennis Walter Conner and others of his era and crafty ilk read this, surely it will put smiles on their faces....
