RIP: Doug Peterson, 1945-2017

SAN DIEGO, CA – Your Ed. is sad to relay the news that our longtime friend and celebrated yacht designer Doug Peterson (USA) has crossed the bar after a long illness. Among his many successful designs, Doug was a key design team member of Bill Koch's 1992 winner AMERICA CUBED and the Kiwi's first Cup winner in 1995, BLACK MAGIC (NZL 32). In 2000 Doug led the team that designed the boat for Patrizio Bertelli's Prada Challenge that defeated our St Francis Yacht Club challenger AMERICA ONE in the finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup, but lost in the AC Match to the Kiwis.
