GovCup: Cruising Yacht Club's Harry Price (AUS) goes undefeated in Round Robin 1
IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN OFF NEWPORT BEACH, CA – Round Robin 1 wrapped up a few minutes ago with pre-regatta favorite Harry Price (AUS, Cruising YC of Australia) winning his final match over local favorite Christophe Killian (USA, Balboa YC). Price completed Round Robin 1 undefeated at 11-0 topping the other 12 skippers from four countries (AUS, GBR, NZL and USA) in the 51st annual Governor's Cup, the prestigious international youth match racing championship hosed by Balboa Yacht Club.
Price is the number 6 match racer in the world (of any age) as ranked by World Sailing.
At the end of RR1 Killian stands second overall on 9-2. Tied for third are Chris Weiss (USA, Del Rey YC), Will Blouden (AUS, Royal Freshwater Bay YC), and Leonard Takahashi (NZL, Royal New Zealand YS) on 7-4.
RR2 commenced this afternoon, and continues Thursday. The Semifinals are Friday, and the Finals Saturday.
