Photo of the Day: The fun, challenging, non-foiling Finn

BARCELONA – Say what you want about "traditional" classes like the Dragon, Finn, Flying Dutchman, Star and Tornado, (to name just five), whether in the Olympics or not there is something almost magical about their attraction to generations of great sailors the world over – providing for many a lifetime of international competition and camaraderie. This morning our long-time friend, Gerardo Seeliger (ESP), former President of the Finn Class and founding President of the 49er Class, popular World Sailing leader (when it was ISAF and IYRU before that), one of Spain's leading corporate headhunters, and professor in sports management at the Madrid's IE University, wrote to say, "I am back sailing the Finn, training for next year's World Masters in Barcelona. My best reference as a competitor is Henry Sprague (USA, Newport Beach)." I take that to mean his goal is to beat "Super Henry," who next year will be 73 and won the Finn Gold Cup in 1974. Name another class that the likes of Ainslie (GBR), Bertrand (AUS and USA), Bruder (BRA), Coutts (NZL), Elvström (DEN) and Presti (FRA) all raced and won in – and keep (or kept) coming back to later in life?
