Pac52: Tom Holthus and his team BADPAK (SDYC) wins 2017 season championship
SAN FRANCISCO – Congrats to owner/driver Tom Holthus (USA, San Diego Yacht Club) and his BADPAK team on winning the inaugural Pac52 season championship at the conclusion of the class's fifth and final regatta for 2017, which wrapped Sunday afternoon at St Francis YC. BADPAK finished second in the Pac52 Cup one point ahead of their arch-rival, Frank Slootman's INVISIBLE HAND (USA, Tahoe Yacht Club).
After finally dropping a race yesterday to INVISIBLE HAND, Karl Kwok's (HKG) BEAU GESTE, representing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron won today's 7th and final race of the Pac52 Cup to win the regatta with an impressive scoreline of 1-1-1-1-1-2-1. Two weeks ago BEAU GESTE also won all seven races in the StFYC's annual Rolex Big Boat Series.
